Solar Hot Water

Solar hot water systems are making a comeback as energy prices begin to rise. Modern systems are extremely reliable and efficient with a 10-year warranty on the panels.

Micro flow systems are designed for residential hot water. These systems can provide up to 60% of the total energy required by water heaters on a yearly average.

It is installed between the cold water supply and your existing water tank for maximum efficiency. A small pump powered by a small solar electric panel moves the heat transfer fluid from the heat exchanger up to the solar panels on the roof and carry the heat back down.

One of the most cost effective uses for solar hot water systems is where the heating load is highest in the summer. Motels and Hotels use large quantities of hot water for laundry, Car washes, Laundromats, Trailer park showers, any business with high demand for hot water form March to October can experience very quick cost recovery.

Radiant floors use low-grade heat (typically 90F). This is an ideal system to add solar collectors to, reducing the fuel bill for a conventional system. Heat collected during the day is stored in insulated tanks. When the thermostat calls for heat, the solar heated water is used first. As long as the water in the tanks is hotter than the returning water from the loop in the floor the system will be used. On cloudy dark days the system works normally.

Benefits: Will pay for itself many times over. Totally automatic and very low maintenance.
